Chinese New Year Celebration
Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year is celebrated by many countries including Canada. Spring Festival marks the first day of the New Year in the Chinese calendar. Chinese New Year is a vibrant and festive occasion in Canada as well as the rest of the world. This event continues for many days, often including a variety of festivities such as street parades, festivals featuring dancing, traditional Chinese costumes, firework displays, food stalls, and artisan crafts.
ICEAP held a special event to celebrate Chinese New Year at Morrison Campus, on Thursday, January 30th. Also known as Spring Festival, Chinese New Year is the most important celebration of the year in China. ICEAP is home to more than 200 Chinese students. The Student Services Department provided many tasty Chinese treats, traditional snacks, and excellent performances from students in front of and enthusiastic audiences. Students had a wonderful experience enjoying exciting lucky draws and interesting games during the celebration night. This Chinese New Year event was a valuable opportunity to help students celebrate their culture through music, food, and dance. International students from China as well as Korea, Russia and Ukraine, come away from the evening activity with a strong sense of fellowship and friendship.
